I AM are the two most powerful words you utter every day. Every time you say “I AM” you define yourself. You put color, meaning and contours to yourself. You take yourself out of the ocean of infinite possibilities and give borders to your emotions, the things you like and dislike, the things you do and the things you want. We hardly ever pause and examine the words we say after “I AM.” But do this now and see what answers come to you when I ask you “Who are you?”

Are the definitions of who you are based on events that are far removed from this moment in time? By habit and by ways of thinking about life that have been passed from generation to generation we believe that we need to define ourselves on the basis of what was. But what was is no longer what is. What was is already gone; it is history. Your story does not define who you are right now. The situations, people and circumstances you have encountered in life have given you understanding and helped you grow. But on the basis of the understanding gained through your experiences you have shifted, you have grown, you have become and in this moment you are so much more than what you used to be.

The only moment that exists is this present moment. And in this present moment do you continue to anchor yourself to notions you have already outgrown without even realizing it? Or do you choose to open your sails and discover new lands? Every moment is a new moment. In every moment you are given the blessing, the opportunity to choose yourself all over, to decide who you want to be. Do not regurgitate old, worn-out believes about who you are. Create a new you. Create with passion and inspiration, knowing that the definitions you give yourself are the course, the map you follow to create the path forward. You have came from where you were. You know what the path behind you was so why would you like to continue trying to move forward with your head turned back and your eyes locked on what was?

Create yourself as the person who you choose to be now. You have the right to choose to define yourself differently. A change in the way you think about yourself and talk about yourself shows that you are growing and experiencing your existence from every point of view. Do not anchor yourself to old definitions and paradigms that no longer serve you. But spread your wings and fly with confidence that the universe will support you and allow you to experience the I AM you choose to be right now. So, now, please answer this question again “Who are you?”

A friend at work sent out an email to me and our colleagues saying that she is not feeling well and that she is leaving for the day to go to the ER. I responded asking her to take good care of herself and sent her thoughts of health and feeling well.

A few days passed without a word from her, then, out of the blue she emailed me and said:

Thank you so much for sending me good vibes. I feel much better now. I was so relieved when the ER doctor told me it’s not a heart problem. I have to change my life style and eating habit to take good care of my stomach though. Thanks again for caring for me and sending your well wishes.

I was very glad to know that nothing really serious was going on with her and being who I am, I took this opportunity to encourage her a bit. I asked her to think about what is going on this way:

What could be more wonderful than taking care of yourself?! After all you do have only one body. We live in a society where it is all about everyone else — taking care of things at work, taking care of our family and the people we love. But when it comes to taking care of ourselves it is always though as something secondary, as something that needs to wait, as something we need to feel embarrassed that we do.

But if you do not take care of yourself, no one, even those who love you, will be able to do that for you. Think of your body as a precious gift that you are given and all you have to do is nurture it and treat it special.

I am sure you can remember those moments when you felt good about the way your body felt. We, women usually experience that when we are slimmer and have lost a few pounds, unfortunately. In those moments you just felt like a million dollars, very confident and very happy. Well, imagine feeling like that every day! Treating yourself with attention and kind love will create a great feeling of appreciation of this temporary vehicle we were given. You will experience the elating sense that you are moving through your day in a beautiful body filled with vitality and energy.

Image: hannap’s Flickr photostream

It may feel painful sometimes when you want candy or stuff that you know is not good for you. However, all it takes is for you to say to yourself, “I love myself and I want to take good care of myself, so who cares about all this “poison” anyway, I prefer to have an orange, for example.”

Approach taking care of yourself with LOVE rather than with a feeling of being deprived and being a victim of a body that cannot handle every bad thing you dump into it.

See this as a choice between two perspectives, two ways of thinking. The first one is through the eyes of a person who feels powerless and feels miserable and deprived of all these foods that he cannot have. The second perspective is through the eyes of someone who has the power to choose and who from a position of power and love chooses to be kind to his body.

And the moment you make this tiny shift in your mind all the fear of being deprived will disperse like vapors because you have chosen to act from a higher vibration and you have aligned yourself with the feeling of love which is what really sustains us.”

Imagine my joy of having been of help when she replied:

“Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts with me. I was smiling when reading your email. Like you said, if I don’t take care of myself, no one can. As per my primary doctor’s instruction, I stopped drinking coffee for almost one week now. I thought I won’t survive without coffee, but well, I am still alive and seems doing better. I did feel a little bit being deprived at the beginning, but I can gradually tell the difference. The approach of thinking positively with love you suggested in your email is really, really helpful. I suddenly don’t feel so miserable about avoiding a lot of foods I loved before.”

Yes, it is all about loving yourself, my friends!

Rethnea.com is celebrating its first birthday today!

A year ago the desire to share, to inspire, to encourage people reached a point where it could no longer be contained. It was an idea whose time has come. It was an idea that found a loving home inside my heart, grew strong by the moment and gathered so much energy that I had no other option but to transcend my own doubts and limitations and to act on the higher calling that I felt.

And I am so glad I did! I am filled with a marvelous sense of living on purpose, following what excites me and having a meaningful existence every time I connect to the vibration of Rethnea, the vibration of every post and the vibration that the Rethnea community has created around this blog. Thank you for connecting to this vibration too and for magnifying the intensity of the love around us.

It is with great joy that I look forward to the changes that are coming to Rethnea.com. Currently, I am working with two great people on creating the platform for Rethnea’s growth. We are changing the structure and the look of the site so that it is more representative of who Rethnea has become and so that we can give you a lot more in content and greater experience.

The second change that has been under way for two months now is the translation of the blog in 13 languages. Why 13, you ask? I want to bring this blog and the inspiration it provides to as many people around the world as possible. I had certain languages in mind and while going back and forth in making the arrangements all of a sudden, to my own surprise, I realized that I have agreed to 13 languages. My first though was “But wait! Isn’t 13 an unlucky number?” However, I chose to trust that there was a reason behind this convergence of events. Within a few days of this realization I learned why things have formed themselves this way.

The number 13 is the number of change. To both numerologists and tarot readers, 13 is a number of transformation. It calls for a study of your basic principles, what you believe in. It attracts changes in the way you define everything in your life and that leads to shifts in your worldview and your existence. How appropriate then that Rethnea should be translated in 13 languages, right?

As you can see, a wonderful expansion is taking form for Rethnea. Thank you for being part of it. I look forward to continuing to bring light to you and helping you fully connect and live in your spirit every day of your life.

With all my love,

Rethnea

I first became acquainted with Wayne Dyer many, many years ago. I was in high school when I read Your Erroneous Zones. Back then I was very interested in understanding what moves us, what moves through us and makes us the people that we are. It only seemed natural that I should study psychology in college. However, after studying psychology for a few years I realized that its field, its scope is very narrow and that there is so much more to us that psychology could not explain. Religion also could not satisfying my thirst for knowledge because of its inherent limitations. Therefore, my interests gradually evolved and shifted towards spirituality.

Then one evening in 2006, I came across Wayne Dyer again. PBS was broadcasting his special on Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling. I really loved and was deeply moved by his words. When listening to him telling the audience the story of the monarch butterfly I felt how strong his connection to Spirit is and how freely, lovingly and without limitations Spirit flows through him. During that special Wayne shared one of the most powerful quotes I have ever heard:

When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be. ~ Patanjali

Rediscovering Wayne’s work made me realize that he too has gradually and naturally shifted away from psychology and into spirituality. We both through our different paths of development have realized that the power of motivation pales in comparison to those moments when we are in spirit, fully in touch with our true identity as part of All That Is and when we understand and trust our unbound ability to create.

Wayne’s words have been a great inspiration for me and have been and continue to be a wonderful encouragement on the path of spiritual growth and a beautiful reminder of my true essence. I always considered him to me a teacher of mine, until last night when that label took on a new meaning. I dreamt that in a personal, very friendly and loving one-on-one session Wayne was teaching me how to be a spiritual teacher. He was teaching me the practical, professional side of being a teacher and being able to handle the demands and the challenges. I woke up right after the dream feeling how the wisdom of his words has seeped in me and feeling very grateful for him being my teacher.
